Day trips from Sydney

Kiama This seaside town is a beauty. And the drive there is just as gorgeous. Head south from Sydney and take the Grand Pacific Drive with its spectacular coastal and escarpment views. Once in Kiama, don’t miss the blowhole.

Southern Highlands With country inns and shops packed with antiques, you’ll want to stay in a cosy bed and breakfast and never leave. The town of Berrima is a short drive from Kiama. Drive on to explore Kangaroo Valley and Berrima.

Newcastle A two-hour drive north of Sydney, you’ll find historical delights surrounded by fantastic beaches and a working harbour. Head to Darby Street in Cooks Hill for its boutiques, bookshops and cafés.

Blue Mountains Located about two hours west of Sydney by car or train. Visit the townships along the way, with their cosy cafés and art deco buildings, or head straight for the National Park with its scenic walkways and views.

Hawkesbury River Famous for its oysters and only an hour north-west of Sydney, this is Australia’s longest eastward-flowing river. Take a boat cruise from Wisemans Ferry or Brooklyn or check out Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park.
